Remember that old ploy parents employed to get baby to open his/her mouth for a spoonful of goop (“Open wide, here comes Choo-choo”)? It’s all a thing of the past now. Experts recommend introducing solids to babies who have reached six months of age, and leaving it all in their hands – literally. None of this shoving spoons at them. Now they can take their pick (from a serving of options) – and their time – while, hopefully, you eat right alongside them. (It is argued that babies are most likely less at risk of choking if they are in control of what goes into their mouths.)
